Solar 500cp

    Here is my solar 500cp.
    In the way of tinkering this lamp didn't really need that much doing except for one frame arm/leg that has broken from the rivet on the bottom ring .
    All the brass work was scrubbed with a Dremel type tool fitted with scotch bright pads .
    The chrome work was polished with peek and a toothbrush .
    You will notice that the jet still has solar 500 stamped on it and the vapouriser also has the solar name stamped on it .

    Thanks Jeff, I hav'nt fired this one up yet so I don't know it compares to other petclones .
    The build does feel a bit more solid compared to other types .

    Hello Marten, yes, Solar lanterns are made mostly from brass.

    Lovely rebuild, well documented. As others have said, Solar made good, sturdy lanterns.

    @JEFF JOHNSON yes this one is also mostly brass ,I think that's what contributes to their build quality .
