In 2019, a friendly internet user wrote to me and asked if I would repair his lamp. A nice correspondence developed and he sent me his Swan lamp, which he had bought in Spain, for overhaul and maintenance.

After a few weeks and maintenance work, I sent the lamp back. Now, after more than four and a half years, I received an email earlier this week asking if I would like to purchase the lamp. We quickly came to an agreement and a friend of mine drove past the gentleman on a trip up north and picked up the lamp. I then met up with the friend and was able to take delivery of the lamp today. As it had only been used once since the overhaul, I only needed to tie on a new mantle and was able to start the lamp.

Congratulations on the beautiful preserved Swan Lamp and welcome to the Swan Lamp owners club.:thumbup::lol:
Your lamp is called Swan Lamp 951R,as it is written on the lamp body.
The logo of the registered brand Swan Lamp is a swan and not two lions.
I don't know whether it was made in Germany or under licence in India or somewhere in Asia.
There is nothing about a country of origin on my Swan Lamp 400cp.
Maybe @Mackburner knows more about it.

    Hello Reinhard,
now that you write it, I also noticed that there are two different numbers on the body and the shade...My tired old eyes only paid attention to the numbers of the shade. But I had already recognized that the lions on the shade are not swans :D.
The "Swan" from @rollschmidts Roland is also marked "951 R" on the body, but it is probably a 200cp lamp.
There is probably still a need for clarification!

Yes ,I know.I assume the whole series of Swan hanging lamps Was called R951,just like Solex 100,200 and 300 HK lanterns were all called "Solex 252".

Some confusion here because I list two Swan brands. This one which is clearly an Indian registered brand but I also list a Swan Brand from Thailand which the Thai collectors reckon is a Hong Kong made lantern and probably a Petromax 523 copy. This HK lamp has a Swan Logo stamped on the tank and has a label with a Double Swan logo. I also have a mantle pack with this HK logo marked as “Empire Made” from which I assume this has to be the Chinese-HK brand.

I assume the Indian company was an importer/retailer and their TM brand is the two lions logo. ::Neil::

So would it then be correct to move this to "China-other brands"?

Now I see, I made a double mistake about the numbers!
I was a bit confused with my new lamp because of all the different numbers and logos. My apologies and please correct the thread title again. Swan No. 951 R.

That's a hard call it's an Indian brand on a German lamp. In general the PLC and this site list by brand so maybe the correct place is India. As ever not simple when there are two identical brand names with different logos from diferent manufacturers and countries. Swan (Chinese made) is a Thai brand and this Swan (German Made) is an Indian brand. ::Neil::
