I recently found a bunch of "Bright Brand" pressure lanterns on a used trading site in China. I bought two of the lamps, and after I received them I was amazed at how mint condition they were in. The packaging of both lamps had not been opened, they were quietly sealed inside the package, and the reflectors that came with them were also in mint condition.I see on its hangtag that the year of manufacture is September 1977. During my conversation with the seller, I learned that these vapor lamps are stored in a warehouse in Xinjiang, China. I think it's probably because the climate in Xinjiang stays dry most of the time that they don't rust or corrode, and even the plating is so perfect that it looks as if they just left the plating factory yesterday. I only unpacked one of the pressure lanterns, and as for the other, I didn't want to open it. I wanted to leave it in its original condition, and I believe it is also a perfect lamp. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. All of its spare parts are perfect, not a single sign of aging, just the packaging shows the signs of age. I checked its manual and the model number of this pressure lantern is NO.BSE 0318 350CP, it has an iron fuel tank. There are a couple of other models of the pressure lantern labeled in the instructions, so I hope this will help those of you who own other models.
Congratulations. The Light Brand lantern is one of the better-made ones from China. They certainly look as good as new and mint. Are you sure you would keep them unfired?
Excellent find - the older Chinese lanterns do seem to be better made (like a lot of things it seems)
