I picked this The Evening Star up yesterday from a collectables place for £15. I am quite experienced with Tilley stuff having restored a few but this company's lamp products are new to me. I see an Evening Star table lamp on Amazon which is missing all the bits that my one has missing at a staggering £400! That seems a bit excessive but I would like to know what my one is worth (although it is not going anywhere) and whether it being a wall-mounted specimen adds any rarity value. I guess that unlike Tilley lamp stuff it is not possible to get the parts I would need to get it going. I would be grateful for any advice from collectors. It would be nice to know a bit about the company as well. Thank you, Bill
Welcome aboard! It's the policy of this forum not to give valuations. The link below shows the relevant gallery page. There is relevant paperwork in the library, but it's only open to subscribers. The Evening Star
Generally speaking - when you have something that is quite rare it is often difficult to price. Rarity is no guarantee of value, as often rarity means there is no market for the item. Rare things are also difficult to value as there is not any or little information on prices realised in the past freely available. However you have found yourself in possession of a very nice lantern, and parts do pop up from time to time, so good luck with the restoration.
Nice find, never seen an Evening Star wall lamp. Obviously not a ‘collectables place’ I frequent myself here in Aberdeenshire. I’m jealous @Brian Adams.
Welcome @Brian Adams. Your lamp is not very common. @Mackburner has two Evening Star wall lamps listed in the Reference Gallery. Yours would seem to be the model R92075. Evening Star R92075 Bracket lamp Evening Star 92071 Indoor Wall Lamp It certainly would be a great lamp to restore if you can find the parts.. Cheers Tony
Hi there, I'm in Aberdeenshire (Alford) I'd be grateful if you could tell me about the collectibles place you referenced. Brian
