I decided to leave it as is, just cleaned it up and sprayed the font with clear. There is no date stamp, anyone know about when and where it was made? I put the vent in some citric acid for a short time to remove some rust and it turned out chalky on the surface. Never had that happen before. Here it is now. 20231222_163302.jpg

Probably made between 1953 and 1961. 710 is the Sears manufacturers product code for The American Gas Machine Company (AGM). These prefix numbers appear on the product but are not shown in the catalogues and we don't know them all. The ones we do know are :-

    155 Preway
    250 Turner Industries
388 Probably - Union Metal Works Hong Kong.
    476 Coleman
520 National Stamping & Electric (Nulite)
    710 AGM
    742 Prentiss-Wabers

There are published lists on line for Sears manufacturers but there are gaps. For instance 388 and 520 are missing which is why 388 is only a probable for UMW. I know 520 is right for Nulite because I have a Sears instruction leaflet for a Nulite lamp. ::Neil::

Citric acid and enamel are often not happy bedfellows - it does seem to eat the nice shiny surface. You can wax it with car wax if you are not going to light it.
    Nice find though
