    Hi
This is my new Petromax 829. I’ve cleaned it up and serviced it and it runs great really bright.
I like the reflector it came with are these rare and are they a Petromax part?

Hi, I do believe this reflector was made by a fishing tackle supplier called Wilmek who also sold a twin tie mantle attachment , all useful items for the night time beach angler.
    Regards Ian.

    I think you’re right.
That explains why it had a metal nozzle and the remains of a mantle holder.
Are these mantle holders any good?

Well, depends. In my experience they are not really needed with mantles of good quality and cautious handling (including transport by car for several hundreds of kilometers). But they are supposed to provide some extra support for the mantle to reduce the free length that may amplify vibrations under certain circumstances (resonance).
However, this advantage is reversed if the burner or holder is even slightly loose: the mantle is then torn by the resulting movements, even with cautious handling.
