Hello, I bought a x264 in Australia (!) but I couldn't bring the tank home ( I live in Switzerland) because it "smelled" of gasoline. So I bought another x264 tank in UK, but I have 2 problems. THe 1st, the diameter of the top (where the vaporiser goes - sorry for my english) is of 16.7 mm- And the vaporiser locating bush (337) is 22 mm so it just cannot screw in. Can someone tell me the diameter the have ? The 2nd problem is that when I took the lamp apart, I must have lost the cylinder of the pump. I know that I can buy a complete pump on the bay, but if someone has just the outside cylinder let me know. You'll understand what's missing from the pic :-( Many thanks Simon
Hi Simon it looks like from the pictures that their is already a locating Bush screwed into the top of the tank which you should be able to unscrew but it may have been over tightened but with care you should be able to remove it. Regards Ian
Thank you all, but it seems that the cylinder (2557 on the page you mentioned) is missing, I think I let it on the tank in Aus :-( do you know if I can find just the cylinder ?
You could email Mike at base camp. He might have one lying about. Make sure you get the valve on the end as well. (611) spares@base-camp.co.uk
@Simoncu If I were you I would ask Base Camp for a complete pump for a Tilley X246 for the years 1950 to 1954. Tony
you were right, I took it out, and that was way better :-) Also I ordered a piston (could not find only the cylinder) and now I'm n the process o cleaning and trying to set it to have it work !
Hello, it's been some time, but I had other things to do , and I finally can find some time to continue. Here are some pics of the tank, after I brushed it with a brass brush. And I have another question for you tilley specialists : How do you disassemble the knob(1588) of the control cock assembly ? It seems that there is no gland washer (234) I can unscrew the #1 on the pic, but I don't want to force the knob out. Is it screwed ?or is it crimped ?
@Simoncu The black knob unscrews anti clockwise The gland washer may be stuck to the back of the gland cup
