I got a junk petromax824 half a year ago. However, the junk is missing many parts. I understand the basic structure of a lantern, but I don't know about the 824 preheater. After reading everyone's 824 posts, I was able to understand that when you press the protruding rod, the fuel in the tank is pumped into the preheater. I thought that like the tilley BR49 preheater, the tank is pumped in advance and the pressure is released by pushing a rod to send fuel to the preheater. However, when looking at the actual lantern junk, the vaporizer did not have a shutdown function. It may be because my junk is out of stock. In fact, the needle and needle adjustment rod are missing, and the metal at the end of the wheel also appears to be broken. Or perhaps there is no need to pressurize the tank, and the user presses a rod to draw fuel out of the tank like a pump. If anyone knows please let me know. 1.Does the user need to pressurize the tank before feeding kerosene to the preheater? 2. Is it equipped with a shut valve function? 3. Are needles and adjustment rods equipped? I would be happy if you could enlighten me, who is ignorant. thank you.
1) As far as I know , the answer is no. You pump the fuel directly into the pre heater. No need to do this with 2 bar from the recevoir/tank. 2) no 3) not for the pre heater pumping device. It doesn't work like the Tilley BR version !. Just think how a syringe works. It works like the alcohol version from E&G. I do not own a petroleum version of this pre heater system but the basic idea was that people do not have to carry different fuels with the lantern.
thank you. The person who owned the 826R used to put the alcohol in a large hole and then push the stick to transport the alcohol to the preheating cup. Looking at your explanation, the user puts kerosene into a large hole instead of alcohol and presses a rod to send the kerosene to the preheater. Of course, I think alcohol would be fine too. If this was the correct way to use it, I would have just poured fuel directly into the preheating tray like other lanterns, but I felt it was an unnecessarily complicated function. (I don't see much benefit) Thank you for your message.
Yes the principle is the same but the pre heater "burners" are different. The alcohol version is the normal U-shaped disc where the petroleum version has a higher tower like shape. Petroleum needs more air and therefore another sort of burner. Please take a look here: PETROMAX DATIERUNG, at the bottom. There you find the types of vaporisers from catalogues.
