I manged to find an oil lamp at a sensible price, it is an Aladdin 23 of some kind.
It appears to be brass or plated.

There are a few more curiosity's where I found it, including some kind of Chinese chromed pressure lamp...I don't know if its worth going back for more. I don't need more lamps

Not knowing a lot about it I thought I might ask about the parts needed for reconditioning an Aladdin 23. It doesn't need to be factory finish, functional is enough.
I do have the glass put away.

What parts will it need, Is it missing a shade of some kind?
There is a round wick, It seems stuck. I don't want to break anything, how can it be freed up?
    Is there an instruction manual?
Should it have some sort of lock in mantle?

    Thankyou!

I got the wick to free up a bit and ordered a mantle. Those things are expensive
I guess they don't have the chance to get broken as easily as a tilly.

Yes, mantles are very expensive actually, and also very fragile

    Welcome to CPL @lamplighter911

It will also need a glass chimney, if you don't already have one.
Soaking the wick with kerosene will help loosen it up.

I do ,like the 23. Until recently there was an old fashioned shop that still had a limited range of spares.

These things are beautiful but they have become money sinks. The price of mantles today is just stupid.

I agree.. must be linked to British Gas or Centrica (alternatively here substitute an energy supplier of your choice)
haven’t looked at base camp lately though.. they were always more sane than the online schiesters?
