    OK I'm sold on Heptane.
Been using Naphtha based fuel up until now, mainly Holts Brake Cleaner and Tetrosyl panel Wipe which both work very well, but always niggled me with their slight odour whilst burning.
So tonight I drained off my Colemans Northstar and refilled with pure Heptane which lit like a champ, learned that with this lamp the secret is not to whack the valve fully open but enough to get it lit and control the flame to get the necessary preheat whilst gradually cracking it open more, then once the valve is fully open give it some more pumps. No fireballs this way or sooted lamp.
Anyway, it is eyeball burning bright and no smell so well pleased with this as a fuel and its actually cheaper than the previous Naphtha based fuel as of Feb 24.

It is good that you can find a source of heptane. Is it n-heptane?
Heptane isn't white gas. It is a single component light alkane C7H16, not a mixture of various alkanes.
I'm able to find Hexane in my location but hardly any Heptane.
