I'm making a repair piece for the bottom tails of the shade support riser , and see from Conny's photo in his topic here that I need to make some supports for the top as well. Also now know what chimney and shade to look for. I'm looking forward to lighting her up. any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff
Hi Jeff! A very nice lamp and I think this is the Best Light Co., nr. 123 "Harp Lamp". What you need is a mantle, three brass shade clips and an opal petticoat shade. /Conny
Hello Fred, Yes, I could use some clips and a petticoat shade. I’m also looking for a chimney and mantle. I was wondering if an Aladdin mantle could be repurposed to work? Please let me know the costs and preference for payment Thank you Jeff
Jeff, Attached is a copy of a Best catalog. It looks like your lamp is #123 or close to it. I believe I have a petticoat shade and chimney. They are in the attic. I know I have a few spare shade holders. I will take a look over the week-end. Conny and I use upright gas mantles. The metal base may have to be stretched to fit over Bunsen burner. Fred
Oh wow! This catalogue is wonderful. I had no idea they made such a variety of lamps. I also noticed an eye shade that could go on the bobesche supports, I wondered what they were for. Thanks for all your help Jeff
Hello Jeff, Congratulations to this gravity lamp and to my magnificent taste, it's a treasure you have there. Best regards, Titoo.
Hello Tito, I agree, and thanks to Fred S and Conny C . I’m on the way to replacing the missing parts.Photos of her lit up soon Thanks Jeff
Hello All, 123 Harp Generator question. I removed the brass screen in the generator for cleaning and found black and amber colored crystals; they are about the size of coarse salt, some are magnetic and some look like glass. I'm thinking that these crystals work to help convert the gas to vapor, much like asbestos or fiber packing in other lanterns. Am I on the right track? Regards Jeff
