Hi all, Here is a fine example of the Ditmar 531 200 cp lantern from July 1939. This lantern has slept for decades in its original box. Apart from careful cleaning to remove the fine dust on it and the use of a cleaning cream to erase some dull marks on the nickel plating, everything is original, including the glass and the cardboard packaging. Some traces of tinning on the base circle of the cage with a few micro spots of rust to be removed during cleaning. To my taste, this 200 cp lantern represents an ideal caliber and a harmonious aesthetic. Despite a light tin-plated cage in its structure, it remains very rigid, nothing moves. I notice that on Reinhard's lamp in March 1939 it has two rows of holes on the fan cap. On this one there is only a row of smaller but tighter holes. There are not many Ditmars in my collection, it is only the second one to take its place with technical characteristics for the needle jet generator assembly and identical control. Thank you for sharing. Regards, Titoo.
Very nice lamp and everything original On the hoods with two rows of holes, the caps were in two parts and only connected with a small tab.If you open and close them they may fall apart.
It's in excellent condition and what a wonderful acquisition, congratulations. Titoo, Is the base date stamped? My Ditmar 581 is stamped 09 7 (Sept 1937).
You certainly have a great collection there. The finishes are almost always pristine regardless of whether they're NOS or not. Does this Ditmar have a real Preston loop generator? Or just a ring like the Primus? It looks similar to the original Preston with the loop in a flat horizontal plane instead of a spiral.
