Dears, Could you please verify as to what variant of Tilley A.L.21 is this? Most likely the second generation but that pump seems to be unusual. Reportedly it is unused and has a tag with instruction, so most likely all parts orginal. This is not my lamp. all the best, Piotrek
Hi @Piotrek very nice but could do with more photos as there is a difference in the control tap area? Also is there a pressure relief valve? (another variant) The pump may help to date it as well? cheers pb
That is it. I do not have access to that lamp. I just wonder if this is some interesting example and try to learn something about Tilleys... Hope that helps.
Thanks @podbros I have seen it. I watched all threads regarding 21 model and can not find such a pump. Maybe I am blind maybe I missed something, maybe this is something interesting. I am on holiday and pretty close to that lamp wondering if to buy it. These lamps look so cool, however seem to be pretty common, so not sure about that specimen. Piotrek
That winged pump does seem to be from the 1950’s.. perhaps around the mid 50’s? You will see it mainly on the ‘guardsman’ lanterns and the R1 heaters but it crops up on other things as well..
I have had 2 of the AL21's with the winged pump. It is all standard from the mid 1950. They turn up regular in all of our naboring Nordic countries. Think the AL21's was popular.
Thank You Guys. I will leave that alone and look for older models/variants of AL lamps to be fully happy with purchase. Maybe one day I will get lucky. all the best, Piotrek
