    Yours is not the same. The illustrated one has a French Lilor tank. Also possibly different burner setup.

    Hello Martin,

    They are used to steady it when the tank is tilted back to push the heat up.

    You could call this one a lean tree model as you need something under the front of the tank to do this.

    I do have another one which has the same round ball at the front with a large adjusting screw to tilt it back.
