These are not Nagel Chase but all Australian design and burner Patent although you can see the similarities. Has original as installed Backing Plate # 56 Wizard System Light. Dome Vent Top
I have a table lamp of the same make that I have been meaning to post a photo of as I have never seen or heard of this make before. Have you seen the table lamp before Colin? Astro.
Never seen a Wizard Hollow Wire System Light as a Table Lamp. Gloria did put a few out, interested in the picture of it. Mind you, it wouldn't be hard to make one up. Colin
You are right of course. Problem is that most of the earlier Wizard models are either imported NC or straight copies. Later stuff like this lamp was never made and sold in the US so has to be all Aus made and designed. This is yet another case of which is the right gallery to post them in. On balance perhaps better with NC in the US as that is where they started and is the best way to enable easy comparisons but it does leave these all Austalian lamps in the "Wrong" country. Hard call. ::Neil::
I would be inclined to list all Australian Wizard product under Australia, whether it is rebadged NC models or not. We have the same situation with Aladdin. All the early Aladdins are rebadged Radius product made in Sweden. They are listed under Australia. There are probably other examples as well.
We have the same problem with Coleman and Gloria. Early Aus Gloria is US made but later product is Aus. We made the decision to show lamps of a common brand in the country of origin. So all Coleman is in America but that includes Australian, Canadian, Brazilian and English lamps all being shown in the US Coleman gallery. This Wizard product is no different. Early stuff is US made Nagel Chase but later product Aus made. The Wizard brand is American and can be seen on a lot of US made Nagel Chase lamps as well as Australian. So the country of origin for the brand is US not Aus. Aladdin is different. The Australian Aladdin lamps were never sold under that brand anywhere else but Australia. So for those Aladdin products the country of origin for the brand is Australia not Sweden. This is a problem with several galleries. I actually don't mind where stuff is recorded but we do need to be consistent if possible. ::Neil::
Maybe there should be links under the countries where the product was sold. Like there is for Gloria under Australia. That way those who don't know they were made by a different company can find them.
Yes a link might be a good idea. It is a problem when brands cross national boundaries. Coleman, Gloria, Standard, Wizard and perhaps Aladdin come to mind. Possibly others as well. ::Neil::
