    Can someone tell me what the thread is on a Petromax 150 nipple (jet), please?

    Also, what is the thread for a Petromax 900 Little Baby nipple? I know they are different, and some previous owner has attempted to put the wrong nipple into the Petromax 900 generator, and I wish to repair it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tony

    Thank you, @Reinhard.:thumbup:

    If anyone knows the thread of the Petromax 900 Little Baby nipple (which is a different thread to 7x0.75mm) I'd appreciate that, as well.

    Cheers

    Hi Tony,
    Did you try an M7 x 100 ?
    All my Pmax nipples have this thread, 150CP to 500CP

    The 90Hk for the Petromax 900 is different, not much but it is.
    Once a 150cp is forced in, it is ruined.
    I guess it is not metric but a gas fitting or English thread size.

    That is what has happened, I think, to my 900 vapouriser.

    As I don’t have a correct nipple for it, I have the choice of waiting to find one (very rare, I imagine); or rethreading the vapouriser to take a 150 nipple.

    Alternatively, I could fit the bulkier 150 vapouriser to the 900 lantern until I get my hands on the correct nipple. Then I would need to thread it for the proper nipple — hence my interest in its thread characteristics.

    Cheers

    From the work I did on my 900 Baby I recorded the
    Nipple Thread at M7 x 0.75 mm

    M7 x 0.75 is a standard metric fine thread, so that should not be a real problem.
    The nipple jet thread for the Petromax 900 Little Baby is clearly different. It has an even finer pitch as can be seen from Reinhard's photo above.
    Perhaps, it can be measured if anyone has the right thread gauge. I don't have a Px 900, therefore I can't tell if that's metric, Whitworth or something else.

    @Tony Press , it doesn't look as the original though.

    @WimVe yes, it looks different, but it’s specified for the “little baby 900”. Is possible that the photo doesn’t show the exact one.

    The third photo shows the jet in use on a little baby.

    These Korean makers are pretty good, so I would think they’ve made the right thing.

    @Tony Press you’re welcome!

    I'm now the proud owner of a set of M7 x 0.75 taps, and a die…

    I already had the M7 x 100.

    Cheers

    So…

    The nipple-receiving threads on the vapouriser from my one of my Petromax 900 “Little Babys” were useless.

    I bought a set of M7 X 0.75 taps and set about re-threading the vapouriser.

    1. I ran some hard solder over the threads making sure the existing silbrazed joins were protected with carbon fibre soaked in water.

    IMG_2262.jpeg

    2. Some of the silver solder was lumpy so I gradually opened the space with increasing sizes of drills up to 6mm.

    IMG_2278.jpeg

    3. I then hand tapped the vapouriser with an M7 X 0.75 plug tap.

    Result: :D/

    The vapouriser, to be used on another Petromax 900, is from this Petromax 900:

    Petromax 900 Little Baby Lantern (incomplete)

    Looks like a neat job.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
    Everyone seems to have those Knipex plier-wrenches except myself.

    You've done a fine job there Tony and in such a tiny, confined space!

    So to confirm, the thread specifications are 7mm x .75mm pitch and 7mm X 100, but does that mean 7mm X 1.00mm or 7mm X 100tpi or something else? I would be interested in buying the latter tap to add to my collection but I'd need to make sure I get the correct type.

    @ColinG

    The tap that I used just above is an M7 X 0.75 tap as shown on the box in the photograph. This is the fine thread used on the small Petromax vapouriser for the Petromax 900 Little Baby: 7mm diameter; 0.75 pitch (or 0.75mm between threads).

    The thread on other Petromax vapouriser nipples is M7 X 1: 7mm diameter; pitch of 1 (or 1mm between threads).

    Cheers

    Excellent, thanks. I've already got a7mm x 1mm pitch so I just need the 7mm X .75mm.

    Thanks Tony.

    Perhaps you need a metric fine set of taps and dies Colin ?

    Don’t tempt him. He has a “thing” for taps and dies.

    Guilty as charged... but I'm already on the look out for a metric fine tap & die set and they're no it cheap... and there are various different tpi ratings on some of the sizes. I'll probably have to make my own set like I did with my BSCY set.
