I was wondering if someone can help. I have a Tilley Storm lantern that just won’t light. I’ve changed all the seals, plenty of fuel and pressure coming out of the vaporiser prick hole. But after thoroughly warming up the vaporiser and turning the stopcock only a lot of air is blowing down on the pilot flame. There is absolutely no Bunsen flame coming from the hood. What could be the problem. It used to work perfectly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome, @Jim Tertipis

Is there fuel in it? Or, is the fuel not entering the pickup tube?

    Test:

    1. Take the hood etc off the lantern so only the vapouriser is there above the control cock.

    2. Don’t pre-heat; just pump the lantern, turn on as normal, and see if a stream of fuel exits the jet in the burner.

    Don’t do this inside…

    Cheers

    Tony

The description was that it is blowing air but no fuel even though there is fuel in it. That sounds like pick up tube above fuel level.

Add more fuel or tip the tank sideways to see if you can catch some?

Yes… Is there enough fuel? Or is the fuel pickup tube broken off?

I agree with @Tony Press , the fuel pickup tube is broken (only a lot of air is blowing down on the pilot flame)
