    Hi all,

Can anyone help with this Primus lamp in terms of a potential value (if I am allowed to ask that in this forum). I have had the lamp a few years now just as I came across it in the original box with I think probably the original straw packaging around it.

It has A/B markings - could that refer to the year 1937 ? (Based on research). It has a full white dome.

There are a couple of dints. I haven’t tested it. I am going to gently clean it and will post photos here if anyone can help. (Do I need to test it to be sure it works before selling). In the meantime here is a photo of the box. I am based in the UK

    thanks
    Steve

    @Steven Carter

The site policy is to not give valuations. None the less, I’m sure a collector on this site will get in touch with you, keen to possess it!

If you are interested in selling it and it hasn’t been lit before, don’t light it; it’s probably worth more to some people if not lit. Ditto with cleaning.

    Best regards

    Tony

No, the A/B means Aktiebolaget in Swedish, which just is the same as e.g. Ltd. for limited corporation.
The actual datestamp should be in a circle at the bottom together with a number. And don't ask about the number! No one know for sure what it means, but the letters will give you the year of manufacturing as per this date chart.

And it could very well be stamped AB there for 1937, because it was produced during the 1930's.
    (1931-1939 according to Nils' research)

Ok thanks Carlsson, I undersTand, and I will look at the chart. There are markings on the base that I will need to have a look at.

Ok Tony, I won’t try to light it. I was hoping for that kind of advice.

Ok sure I will try to put more nice photos up that you can use. Mainly of the lantern or also the box too ?

My wife gave the lantern a gentle, general clean, should I polish it with anything i.e. metal cleaner or something? (Or should I be leaving that to someone who knows what they are doing) ?

    Thanks
    Steve

    Both, please.:content:
But the box alone may preferably be posted in the "Labels and package"-section here, and then linked to from the lamp reference gallery post and vice versa.

I would clean it with soap and water first - anything non corrosive and non abrasive can't hurt it.
