Hello there, bought this Optimus 1200 cause of a strange top plate on Tradera last week, have never seen anything like this before, the part looks like it has been on the lantern many years, plate is very well done and are made of 1mm brass.

There is a name and phone number on the tank, tried to call the number today but no answer.

    Anybody know anything about this?

    Best Regards

I've never seen that on any Optimus.
Likely an added piece by the previous owner for some specific reasons.
The piece would certainly come in handy if for some reasons, I need to frequently lift off the hood while its hot or lantern still in operation :D

Seeing that it has the handle on it, I wonder if it had something to do with a homemade shade.

The perforated piece might be originally used as some kind of shutter on some other devices.

I am guessing on some kind of locking-plate for a heating plate - where you’d have three male connectors on the upper part locking down - being secured by that lone peg left standing?
Still to be used as a regular lantern -as the long U-shaped handle is still on it.
(Wish I could scrounge up one of these original straps for the handle)
