Hi there, I have acquired a Coleman PowerMax lantern in very good shape. As you can already guess by the description this lantern is designed to use the PowerMax fuel canister. This lantern also have a very nice reflector which works quite well indeed. I found a very nice PowerMax adapter on the bay. I have a few PowerMax fuel canisters which seam to be in good shape for now. As can be seen the top of the PowerMax fuel canister is the same as the top of the adapter. Here is a picture of where the PowerMax fuel canister attaches to the lantern. Once the canister is attached just turn it 1/4 turn clockwise the fuel canister is secured. Here you can see the adapter in place and secured. With this adapter one can now run this lantern on modern fuel canisters. With an adapter this lantern will also run on butane and propane/LPG. For safety sake I replaced the Lantern O-Ring to keep the fuel canisters from leaking. Here is the lantern up and running on several different fuel canisters including the PowerMax lantern. This lantern runs great on all of the above fuel canisters. Cheers, Norman
@Norman That is pretty cool and very size efficient. Who was the seller? I would be interested in a few of those myself. Mike
@HunterStovie-Lantern Guy Hi Mike, are you talking about the lantern or the PowerMax adapter. The adapter was sold by nonoino but he doesn't have any listed at this time but if he is contacted I'm sure he will make some more of these adapters. This adapter is designed to be used with the PowerMax lantern, but it may work on the stoves as well I'm just not sure due to not trying it out yet. Coleman had to do something a bit different for the lanterns due to the weight of the fuel canister and the base that holds the fuel canister so it won't prematurely detach from the lantern. The system works pretty darn good. I used a hook in my garage to hang the lantern without any problems and as you can already guess the Coleman 16.4 oz is the heaviest of the fuel canisters. The locking setup on this lantern does it's just of securing very well. I hope this information helps. Cheers, Norman
Nice one @Norman I haven’t seen these profane lanterns in Australia. That could mean that I should get out more ..... or they are few and far between downunder. Cheers Pete
Nice, and it works well, too. I saw a Coleman 5120 gas cartridge lamp on eBay but I let it go as I have enough to be fixing up just now plus I accidentally bought an Anchor 950 from GumTree for £10.
Hey Colin, It sounds more like you bought the Anchor 950 accidentally on purpose. Pete I would bet if I sent one of these adapters to you you would be able to reproduce it. Cheers, Norman
No no no, I swear it was an accident! I accidentally clicked 'buy' and then mistakenly PayPal'd him the correct money after randomly sending him my address... don't know why I did that actually - so you see, it was all a big mistake! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep it now!
New member here but have been collecting for about 6 years now. I know this is an old Boston but does anyone know how to reach nonoino to buy an adapter?
Welome, @Joshua Harrington. One way is to "tag" a person with the "@" symbol directly to their name as I did with yours. --> @Norman Cheers Tony
I made the adapter and service to people in local country. The lantern needs to be modified in order to install the adapter firmly.
I figured out that if you put the valve in a vice that you can just unscrew the Powermax connector from the lantern valve and now I can screw a 1 pound propane bottle into the valve like normal
That's very nice! I'd love to know how you did it so that I can convert a Powermax stove to work off those canisters on your lantern.
