Version : polished brass Lampshade gold plated No 9207 = 7th week 1992 The high-quality pump cover was available from the mid 80s,from this time onwards the Geniol were marked on the tank, hood, pressure gauge and glass cylinder
Yes,it was made by Hipolito. All 250 cp lamps manufactured by Hipolito can be identified by their components and the stamped numbers. Unfotunately, you can also recognize them by the colossal defects installed as standard. 1.The support frames of all 250s usually develop stress cracks after a few hours of operation The Swiss Army's Geniols are an exception. These 250 cp lamps from the Swiss Army run on petrol,so they don't get that hot . 2. In the narrow J-tubes of these 250 cp lamps ,a paddle that is too thick is attached to the adjusting screw. With this regulating screw you can normally regulate the mixing ,which then has an impact on the brightness of the lamp. However , if this paddle is too thick , yo cannot prevent the J-tube from getting too hot , which will cause the lamp to dim and the support frame to break. Because I collect the lamps by year,I know that these thick J-tube paddles have already been used in Germany in Altena in the last two years of production. This serious mistake was then exported when we moved to Hipolito .This error has not been corrected in Portugal . The 250 size then disappeared.
I guess the paddle in the J,tube can be troublesome to remove for any corrections, filing down, etc. I cannot remove it from the Petromax by just unscrewing. I can remove those from many clones by simply unscrewing them.
This Geniol is also as shiny and beautiful as its sibling without automatic, the Normal. Reinhard, I can still learn sooo much from you!
These thick paddles can be removed and reinstalled very easily. They were simple pressed into the J-tube.You can crefully knock them out with a small pointed punch, file them down ,reinset them and secure them carefully pushing the rear pin apart. The lamps then shine much better and don't smell if you work carefully. You only need the tool shown. You don't need to do this with old Petromax lamps because they still had narrow paddles and served their purpose perfectly. They were only attached to the front of the J-tube with a thread .That was still quality. Thank's @Willy and happy birthday
