Dears, Below pic of the Hovik lamp stolen from Internet. I wonder about the unusual hood - is it original/just stripped from red enamel or maybe interesting specimen? Thanks for any and all info. all the best, Piotrek
I have never seen a HV102 that is not all red, so my suspicion is that someone has removed the enamel. Of course, just because I have never seen one, does not mean that it does not exist.
This example with silver hood to be found on Polish forum (Lampy Ciśnieniowe) looks more convincing. Might be interesting for some, @Nils Stephenson Høvik Verk standard nr102 (lampycisnieniowe.pl)
I'm still not convinced it is original. If I remember correctly, the HV102 has a two piece hood (like the original Primus 1020) so the top cap could have been replaced with a Primus cap from a 1001 or a replacement item. My personal opinion is that a red top cap looks nicer.
I agree, a good condition red top looks better INHO and indeed the silver one may be replacement, as that would be quite weird to install only one enamelled part somewhere in the middle of the lamp.
