Found it in an Antique store this afternoon. It's missing the cleaning needle, bail/handle, enamel hood, globe and the preheat cup.
It quite well used with a few solder repairs and may take a while to get working.
As mentioned in another post the plating comes off the hood quite easily when cleaning.
I have a spare preheat cup and a frosted Primus globe for it.
    It was made in 1946.
    It's between a 991 and 1020 for comparison. 20240810_191818.jpg 20240810_192234.jpg 20240810_193245.jpg

    Ah!
    One of my favourites.

It's so damn silent! That's why I like it. Oh, well, it's just a 200CP lantern, so it shouldn't make that much noice in the first place, but with my subjective ears, it's much more quiet than most other 200 lanterns out there.

Never mind missing the enamel hood and such.
Skip the original look, and just get it to work, and you will have a nice runner to grab when you just want a not too bright light.
And you don't really need a preheating cup if you get the quick starter going.

Here's a clip I made many years ago when I tried to capture how silent my 981 is.

@Carlsson . Thank you for the link.
Is there a foot valve in the tank on the generator assembly for using the rapid pre heater?

Good luck with the 981, Andrew.

Thanks for the video of the pre-heating, too, Christer. Given discussions in another thread I was very interested in the flame produced on your lantern.

    Cheers

No foot valve. The cleaning needle wheel is also a positive shutoff valve. It only has about a half circle of movement. With the valve closed, the needle is through the jet.

    Thank you.
So no need to remove the generator assembly from the tank.

No, the assy is soldered to the tank and is not a removable part. You just unscrew the valve from the front and the vaporiser as normal. There is an extra fitting on the side of the assy with a spring that holds the rack tight against the pinion.

Okay. Thank you. The rack came out so I will remove the nut on the side to reset the spring.
I have the preheater torch working and am busy with the generator ( broke the cable off inside the generator which I was using to clean it out .
Thankfully managed to fish it out without too much trouble. The ceramic cap does not want to come out so I can't heat and quench.

Finished the fettle . I will do a light up now and hope all goes well. Used quite a few pices of cable to clean the generator loop. The jet threaded section was broken in half so I have used the jet and needle from my 991. The ceramic cap ended up broken and my Hipolito 250cp kindly let me use its cap.

It's got a slight leak where the valve body enters the fount.
It's not the brightest lantern there is but it is the most quiet.
