    Today we were given an unusual Tilley lamp that I can’t find anywhere. It’s like an LT2 but with differences, including a two air-tube burner a bit like an FL6, plus a moulded plastic carrying handle like an AL620.

    On the base of the fount is stamped something like “472XB”. The globe is too big but I think the standard ‘onion’ globe will fit.

    Any suggestions, please?

    @Phil Harris

    The “472” part of the stamping indicates April 1972.

    Cheers

    Hi Jeff,

    That’s really helpful as always, thank you.

    Thanks for confirming the date, Tony, it is what I guessed.

    I’ll post a pic of the lamp once fettled! I may have to wait for the right mantle to turn up though.

    Hello Phil, I like the design of that variant and the one which is shown via the link in my previous post in this topic, there are some differences between the two lamps, but the basic idea is the same.

    Here it is, with the correct globe and after fettling. I had no FL mantles to hand and wired-on a Tilley 300CP mantle which does the job for now.

    Looks weird, but I like it and if I came across one I most definitely would buy it.:thumbup:
