Bought 45 years ago in The Netherlands. Not used for over 40 years. Now finally taken apart, cleaned and working again like new. This is the brass version (tested with magnet). I’m amazed by the high quality and precision of manufacture. It has the kerosine pre warming feature, plus the small tray for methylated spirits for pre-warming. I use the latter.
Welcome to the Forum. The quality of Butterfly lanterns had been quite wide. Some of those from earlier times were pretty good while there were also those from recent years being badly made. Perhaps it might partly be the manufacturing variations of different the factories or management from where they were made through different times.
