Hello all, this may be a very silly question, or as we say the only silly question is the one not asked. Is there any chance that this gold painted Tilley R1 reflector is original? As far as I know, the reflectors only came in copper or spectrum plating, as these were the best to reflect the heat. My mind says no, but the colour is amazing close or spot on to the original Tilley gold paint. Maybe the photos don't show the true colour, as what my eyes see. I don't see why you would paint the reflector in gold? This reflector came off a 1935-40 Tilley R1 Radiator. Any opinions or advice will be much appreciated. Thanks Buggerlugs. See photos.
Yours is older but a new in box with gold and the R55s had gold too. Painted on the inside is strange.
I have not seen that before but it would mean not having to polish it and it would reflect pretty well I expect. I'm thinking original.
@Anthony Cool let's see what others have to say? Thanks for your help mate, I hope it's original, because then I have another different style of lamp, as you said I don't have to polish it.
