    Wow, just saw what that chrome PL53 went for on eBay. I didn’t know that such a lamp existed in chrome. Beautiful! I reckon if anyone here owned one they’d be keen to show it in the gallery.

    @Jean J
    I very much doubt tilley ever made such a lamp
    Yes its a PL53 but not in that finish
    Looks like a steel wartime version to me with probably a repro hood chromed up later in its life.
    It is different and a nice looking display piece having said that
    Cheers pete

    Wouldn't cost a lot to get it chromed either, i noticed the control cock was brass though

    Thats right paul think of any original chrome tilley pump and control cock would be same as tank chrome

    Well, I did wonder but Tilley produced many of their models with a chrome finish. Just table lamps that I’ve seen so far myself come to think of it. As for the brass control cock, I bought a chrome Tilley last week which had a brass control cock on it (hint, hint, looking for a chrome one!).

    Someone sure doesn't mind paying almost £680 plus freight, that's crazy money.
    I suppose if you have the money why not hay?
    Looks like a Julian's PL53 repo hood to me, and wire globe holder as well.
    I also agree it would look great in anyone's collection.

    Just a thought - are Tilley chrome lamps really chromed or are they nickel plated? I’m just about to polish up the tank of this latest one on the polishing wheel, should I do it?

    I definitely would say no, just polish by hand, otherwise you will take off the speculum plating.

    Thanks both, will just use autosol and a fine wire wool then.
