Hello I find this lamp. It is a Optimus 200 but whitout an different top. The most of the 200 have 2 screws on the top. But this one looks that they have one ( missing ) screw. Also I can't find aney numbers on it for research. Is there somebody who knows about this. See the pictures for information. Thank you. Greet Guus Bluijs.
This looks like a late 1940s or early 1950s Optimus 200 or 200P. It looks like it has had the nickel plating removed. The last version of the 200 had a nickel plated top cap, but with a red wheel. The 200P had a red enamel top cap and a brown wheel. What is stamped on the tank?
Hello thanks for your answer. There is no mark on the bottom or somewhere else, see photo. But I want the top restoring to its origanal state. And than bring the ligt back on it. So I looked for a photo on this site. Thank you before replying. Guus Bluijs
What I meant was, does it say 200 or 200P on the side of the tank. I can't see it clearly from the photo above.
Hello, there is no P on the side of the tank. And maby the weel is changed and is that the explanation. You can see the nut has square faces. Iám not sure but normal they used a nut with6 faces I believe. I continue to look at how the top should be restored. I let you know.
With just 200 on the side of the tank, it would be from the middle to late 1940s and is mostly correct for the model. You can see examples of this model in the reference gallery. The screw to hold the top cap on has a 5/32" Whitworth thread. The nut to hold the wheel on should be six sided. It is not unusual to see this model with a brown wheel as the model before had a brown wheel and the model after had a brown wheel and Optimus used what was at hand when assembling the lamp. The only thing that is not correct is the lack of nickel plating.
