Hi all, As they say in France, "you're best served by yourself." So, my own gifts below : A Primus 981 (already presented), and a brass Geniol 150CP Unfortunately, both arrived without tops. And the Geniol without top burner. I found the last one at Fogas. A few more adjustments, and photos of the firing coming soon. Gilles
Hmm.. nice perhaps you could have a try at spinning some tops out of brass on your lathe? edit : just saw your other post pb
@podbros , It's my idea, but I don't know if my mini lathe is powerful enough. And I also have to realize the "mother form". Gilles
Yes, ive always thought that about the power, looking at spinning lathes they are robust… but they are made for much larger shapes and also different metals? then i remembered watching someone spinning at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet (Sheffield ) on an open day and the old belt driven lathe he was using was quite small (tiny) .. so i must have a go myself the mother shape is usually a hardwood.. perhaps use copper as a trial? anyway just some thoughts :-)
Hi @podbros I think that for brass, in thin thickness like on our lamps, it should be possible on a 550 watt lathe, but with simple shapes. A Primus top seems too complicated for this power. But I will try.. Gilles
I made Primus hoods in original shape in 0,5 mm steel for enameling. Take a look at my video and try yourself. Brass is much more difficult.
