@Tim Read I am very sorry for the confusion - please see my corrected previous post. Again - please accept my apologies for causing this confusion.
Apologies accepted @Harder Sorensen, glad he's still with us, the light still stands for him to speed his recovery
Thinking of you often Mr Mack since I heard the sad news here.. please accept my very best wishes at this time and for the future I can only echo what others have already said and how much I have enjoyed looking at and reading your features of many lamps & lanterns from all over the world.. also the articles such as ‘The safety lecture for beginners’ and lots of others too !! Thank you T
@Mackburner Thank you Neil for all your help and encouragement. Your knowledge and commitment to the cause prompted me (and I’m sure many others) to take up and continue with our collective hobby. Wishing you all comfort at this time, very best wishes for you and yours. Stevie.
Like others my thanks for your contributions over the years. Hope things are comfortable as they can be.
Hello everyone, does anyone know how Neil is doing now? On October 22nd he wrote me an email saying that his chemotherapy would start on October 23rd. I asked him on 20.11. how he was doing, but received no reply! Regards Jörg
I'm aware that the last time he posted in this forum was on November 28: ID help No idea how is he doing now.
Given the circumstances, Neil is as well as can be expected. He mentioned in a recent email that his last chemotherapy session went quite well. I've planned to visit him the week after next and will stay for a few days to keep him company.
You're a good man, Henry - please pass on my best to Neil. Hopefully our own paths will cross again before long - in the meanwhile, all the best to you...
Hi All Just had a visit with Neil & Henry at Neil's place & spent an enjoyable day chatting about everything from lamps to pork pies ( the meat & pastry kind ) Neil is as well as can be expected under the circumstances & no doubt he'll update you himself about his condition, but was bright & his usual dry witty self although gets a bit breathless. We all shared a Chinese takeaway for dinner (after Henry & I got a bit lost in Hemmel Hempstead trying to find the restaurant) & which Neil really enjoyed Neil asked me to fabricate a Tilley 500cp burner gallery from a Bialaddin 300 hood as he was missing one for a donut lamp so I'm posting a picture or two here for Henry to see later. Stu.
A ver sad sad news, my prayers for Neil I can’t imagine this hobby without his incredibly valuable knoweledge! Thanks for your always available kindness Neil! Nicola
No, we were not lost, we were misdirected by that sat-nav app which couldn't make up its mind in which direction to send us. Though I didn't say at the time, I was beginning to wonder if it even knew which country we were in never mind which road we were supposed to take.
Glad to hear Neil is still hanging on in there...( I have to say every time I see this thread updated I open it with some trepidation...) Best wishes to him.
I wish all members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025! Very special wishes for Neil!!! Greetings Joerg
It is never easy to express yourself for someone facing illness. We are all faced with a loved one who is fighting illness. I wish Neil to make the most of every day that God grants him, I give him all my support for his fight against this damn cancer. You are a founding source, an invaluable actor of this forum for our passion for old lighting. I am each time dismayed to learn that a person I appreciate must fight against illness. Life brings its share of good and bad news but sometimes it is too much. I will publish a lamp action for you and some of my loved ones who are fighting against this damn cancer. Regards, Titoo.
