Hi fellas, I have a Primus 1051. Not sure how the NRV works. I see that it has a point on the cup end and a screw effort on the pump knob. There is a brass NRV ? At the bottom of the pump tube. Looks a lot like a stove jet for want of a description . Can someone enlighten me on how it is ment to work, maybe an exploded diagram. Some instructions on how the whole lamp works. I don’t want to wreck anything before I start. Thanks fellas.
The pump knob and cap are threaded so the knob can be screwed down. When this is done, the tip of the pump rod closes the hole in the top of the NRV. That way there is a positive shut off for the pump valve. The NRV itself works the same as all other Primus NRV, except that it is a larger diameter and a shaft on the cup that goes through the spring. I'm not near my collection at the moment so can't take a photo. Anyway, they can be repaired as usual but you have to be careful not to damage them as it is very hard to find a replacement.
Hi there @Nils Stephenson , hope you are doing good, I have had a set back with the NRV. I had it soaking in penetration oil for a week, left it out in full sun it’s been hot here 35-40 C , I prepared to remove it with my trusty slotted bolt NRV remover. I thought it was giving in but it didn’t and rounded of the NRV. I’m a bit mad with myself. Not sure what to try next? I could adapt an easy out tap but fear butchering it, or I could gently sweat the pump tube out and deal with it that way. I’m open to suggestions and your vast knowledge on all things that drive us Lanterneer bonkers
Thank you @Tony Press , all the best for the new year. I think I’m going to try the easyout way, I have to make a tool extension to accommodate the smaller easyout bit. Bit more to think about. All good
