    Dears,

Please find below my Petromax 823/6. Cool, old, good German stuff.

It is a „rocking version”, because it has damaged/bulged bottom plate and just rocks:content: Pressurized or not, it rocks the same.

Most likely "DB" on the tank stands for "Deutschen Reichsbahn".
Long handle is most likely a railway version.
Integrated alcohol preheating container/system – works. The best visual effect was when lamp was working and I pumped some more meth for fun [-X
Interesting glass – I would be grateful for info/ideas/speculations.
    Pump handle is some replacement.
There is a "PETROMAX" on the generator - it differs from generator remains in my other 823/6.
Grip wheel differs from my older 823/6. It may be original, but also may be not.
Pump screw most likely is original (it is the same like in my other 823/6), but someone soldered some „stopper” to it. Cute addition, so I did not remove it

Scrapes on the bottom plate – dear PX experts /@Reinhard could you please try to decipher? It seems to be from 1928 („28” at the end), but that first „W” is strange to me…
Top cap with „X” shape in the center as well as mixing tube differs from my other 823/6. I thought that this cap and mixing tube would be older version that my 823/6 from 1927, but it seems otherwise. Any comment on that?
Clay burner cap/jet has no numbers, letters etc. and seems to be old.

Lamp works just fine with new 250CP set of needle and nipple and Luxor 200-300 mantle.
My father told me that he prefers when these old lamps look old. Unfortunately I agree with him :content: and can not afford better lamps as well :D It was just soap cleaned, pump leather and sealing replaced, some parts were derusted. I did not remove old „stuff” covering the inner casing, because it seems to be pretty well protected from rust as it is. Overall 45 minutes job just like on youtube and ready ;)

In spite of its visual and technical issues I like it a lot. I am glad that there are still some unknowns and surprises in these old lamps IMHO. At the last picture it gives a „high five” with his older ? brother who is still waiting to be fixed

    All the best,

    Piotrek

It's beautifully lit and looks great.

This is my first time seeing DB.
    It's rare.

I also have a junk 824, but I would like to light it up safely like you someday.

    Thanks for sharing.

Great find on an early Petromax.
I can't be sure what had been scibbled at the bottom of the fount. W, 19, 28? I'm not aware that alphabets had ever been included on the date coding of the Petromax. Is it really a 'W'? What does that mean? Week/woche 19, 1928? No idea really.

These 823/6 are some of the earliest Petromax lanterns with this design type.

Thank you guys for all/any info and comment provided.
There is nothing on CPL about CAMERCO glass. According to this website
    CAMERCO RED EMBOSSED GLOBE

Camerco = Carl Meijer & Co (Hamburg)

Regarding early PX I accidently noted this post:
    Ehrich & Graetz 882
These is a hell a lot of knowledge scattered in different places of this forum. That would be great to create some general posts dedicated to different lamp manufactures and their main lamp models. But from the other hand, what do we really know for sure from approx. 100 years ago? The more lamps and docs posted, the more info/opinions available and some questions answered.
    all the best,
    Piotrek

First let me offer my congratulations for your excellent work on this lantern.

There are some very good articles in the Reference Library on some manufacturers, and some of our European members have very good websites on German-made lamps. There are also some great books published such as the “Guide to Vintage Coleman Products 1900 -1983”.

The most comprehensive volume on brands, manufacturers, and models is produced by Neil McRae (@Mackburner) as the “Pressure Lamp Catalogue”. It is available from Neil as a .PDF that is revised and updated as new information comes to hand.

    Best regards

    Tony

@Knee - I still try to improve a working to not working lamps ratio. Currently it is fifty-fifty or rather ten-ten
@Tony Press - thanks for the tips
@Henry Plews - I did not know how to dismantle that lamp because of the curved preheating pipes. I thought that these parts are soldered together, just like oldest rapids intake pipes. But your info from the thread below that the upper curved pipe is just pushed into the lower one solved my problem. Yeah, info from that thread fits here just right and may be useful for somebody.

    @Michel
I just noticed that the complete "PS5" generator from my Petromax 823/6 is here:
    identification please
Hope that helps to ID your lamp.
Well, that generator will not be easy to find to complete my lamp...
