    Dears,
HASAG 51. I have done nothing to improve condition of that lamp. In my opinion it has never been used and lit. No traces of soot or carbon, no smell of fuel from the tank. Tank inside is pristine shiny brass. There is old, German type NRV with long thin slot. Almost the whole lamp including shattered glass is covered with thin, hard, greasy dirt layer.
It is pretty cool to have such old stuff that was never used, so I will not light that lamp. I might even keep that old look and not clean it either. I enjoy that old look, but I am not sure about the final decision. I do not want to dismantle all parts and damage sealings, knowing that these were assembled in the factory almost 100 years ago. Definitely I do not want to damage the HASAG decal.

What would you do? What is your opinion?

There was a Petromax 834, 835 manual attached to it and MAXIM DITMAR 100HK/CP mantles. Most likely such a mantle is attached right now to the lamp, because one of two mantle packaging is empty. I posted these papers in more appropriate sections:

Can you assess manufacturing date of that lamp? Mid-30s? I do not know.
Overall, a lucky shot with that lamp.

    All the best,
    Piotrek

I think it's correct to either light it or leave it as it is.
If I had two of the same lantern I wouldn't light it, but if I only had one I might light it.

Thanks for sharing the photos of your wonderful hasag.

Thanks @Camp numao . You are right - it is up to personal preferences. It is an uncommon lamp in an extraordinary condition, but missing a fun factor for me as I am personally against dismantling and lighting it. To clean and make it shine would be easy as well, but then it would look like a brand new - not my style . Great as a reference lamp with all original parts etc. , but maybe I will swap it for something else. We will see. Anyway, I really like that blue top - finally some nice colour amongst my lamps ;)
    all the best,
    Piotrek

I might likely do the same...at least in the present state of my personal preference.
However, my preferences had been known to change over the course of time passage.:content:

Good for you! These HASAG 51s are strong runners and the straight-through spooltop genny is easy to clean and maintain.
