    I was given this 60 years ago from my grandfather who never really told me anything about it other here you go. I have hung it in my basements for 5 homes. Last week I thought it time to find out what he gave me. I put 2 screws in it as you can see in it, soaked the leather in oil for an hour and put it back in, pumped it and it holds pressure. What year and model do I have? Any info will help.

    Hello and welcome. That's a fine looking model 287 you have there. Date ? I think from mid to late 20's but definitely to mid 30's. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

    Hi Craig.
    Very nice lantern and worth restoring.
    See enclosed pictures of my lantern during restoration.
    Be careful when you disassemble it. The tiny feeding pipe underneath the frame sheares off easily.
    Good luck with your project.

    thanks for the interest and the “be aware”. Not sure just yet what the future is for the lamp. I’m betting if I put some mantles on it and pumped it up it would light. I pumped it up and it held pressure for over a day when I released the pressure by opening the cap. What is something like this valued at?? Just curious

    @Craig Almquist

    This site has a “no valuations” policy.

    It’s a nice lantern, though.

    Cheers
