-Kerosene lamp -Light output 100 HK -Mica globe -Almost parts are iron made and magnetic -The pressure vessel and support frame are galvanized -The hood is chrome-plated -The filler screw was missing -I lost a round paper sticker with three edelweiss (white mountain flower) - The little Ditmar 581 has no manufacturing date on the bottom of the tank.
The zinc plating is still in good condition. I've only seen rusty tanks so this looks quite unusual to me.
Hello @Reinhard, congratulations to your new little lantern. I have never seen a 581 with a zinc plated steel tank and that batch attached to the globe cage, but from the rounded globe posts and the hex nut I assume that it is a later pre-war / war model. Maybe it was produced in the time when the use of brass was limited or forbidden. But that is just speculation, since there is no date stamp, and there are still other brass parts, like the vaporiser, preheating dish and nickeled filler cap.
Thanķ you for allowing me to arouse your interest with little Ditmar . It has been in my possession since July 2018.I contributed the filling screw from my fund and I bought the cleaning needle in South Korea. I can find evidence of galvanized lamp from December 1941 onwards. They were the successors to the non-nickel-plated brass lamps.Galvanization usually did not perfect protection for the iron lamps ,but things weren't better with chrome plating .At some point in 1942 the date stopped being stamped.I don't know if and for how long production at Ditmar came to a stand still because of the second world war.If Martin is right when he writes that the bakelite wheels came after the second world war ,then that means that there were still galvanized iron lamps from Ditmar after the scond world war.
Maybe I am fed up with all that PX/clones lamps around me, but I like that Ditmar shelf a lot! Different shapes and colors. Thanks for sharing that part of your collection. That small lamp is a fine addition to that view
Thanks Piotrek There are 21 lamps. Not a single one is exactly the same as another. Included are the types 501,503,509,519,531,537,505,506,581,520.
I need to salute and acknowledge that Ditmar certainly made a great number of models and variations. It is unfortunate for me that none of them ever turn up for sale in my location.
Dear Reinhard, Here is a very nice little Ditmar lamp they are built with care you have again done the best for this one. Congratulations. Best regards, Titoo.
