Sorry for the confusion on the model... Sears advertised these as a 4618 1/4 in the Fall of both the 1931 & 32 catalogues.. but they advertised it minus the 1/4 as 4618 in the spring of 1932... With no visible changes that I have found on these other than some are found with a brass valve direction disk... If you know more please share. These were produced by the American Gas Company (AGM) for Sears and Roebuck. Here it is fresh after a full fettle. It is instant lighting. The cracked valve wheel was fixed after this photo. Pump breakdown. Factory AGM 510 generator. An AGM burner assembly I was unfamiliar with. Here is a screenshot of the fall of 1931 Ad. Spring of 1932 Ad. And fall of 1932 Ad. And what good is a lantern that won't run? Fun fettle and will fit in well with my Prentiss Wabers that these are so often mistaken for.
That's a good looking lantern. The first two illustrations in the advertisements make the handle (bail), look like a knuckle burner, being so close to the vent. The third illustration appears to have a longer handle and is more like the one in this post. Cheers Tony @Toby Garner

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I have recently acquired the same exact lantern, the 4618¼ from the 1932 Sears Catalog. I love the looks and style of the lantern, especially the unique bail and the large "hat." I'm looking to see if there is anyone familiar with this exact lantern that could help me get it up and running; perhaps the original poster of this thread. Thank you! Having never worked on a lantern myself, I think with this one, I'd rather have someone else handle it this time. As I get more familiar with my small collection of three lanterns (this one, the Coleman 242C & a Coleman 200A), I'll start learning how to work on them more. I had a buddy here in San Diego, where I live, recently work on the Coleman's (they hadn't been fired up in decades) but he's not familiar with this lantern and recommended finding someone who knows this particular lantern better. I found your post back when I first got this lantern last year (at a Vintage Volkswagen campout & show) and was researching it. When it was sold to me, it was sold as a Prentiss Wabers, but when I got home I quickly realized that was incorrect information. I had fun sleuthing about on the Internet and figuring it out. I really like this lantern and would love to be able to use it for upcoming camp trips. Thank you

@BrookMP sorry, somehow I missed my notifications. Where are you located? I know many collectors all over the country. Maybe someone is close that could help out. Only real issue you might run into on this one is if there was a need for parts as that were a relatively short run.
@BrookMP the only one I can think of is a couple hours from you I believe. If no luck finding anyone here at the CPL forum I recommend heading over to the CCF and looking for a helper there.
