Hi All, I was wondering if the process affects the finish on plated parts? I have done some searches but maybe I missed it? thought I would ask before I get started many thanks pb
It might have some effects which might or might not be noticeable. The extent of plating loss depends on the operating parameters used, like current densities, type of electrolite, etc.
Thanks @MYN I will have to do more research, perhaps try something that isn’t lamp related as a trial bought some evaporust a little while ago so will try that first regards p
I've been using vinegar to remove rust. Works well and rather quickly. Using my ultrasonic bath on fine parts to clean with a brass cleaning solution in heated bath. Works great too. Per others advice I use accupunture needles to clean out jets. Best, Brain
Electrolysis to remove rust from steel (negative to object being de-rusted) will flake off anything sitting on rusted steel. For example, it is very good at removing paint on rusted steel. It will also affect non-steel metals, but as I’ve made sure I’ve never had non-steel metals in my electrolysis, I can’t tell you how, but a good metallurgist could. Tony
