Hello all, here's a HASAG Polar 5a I got going. It showed no evidence of having been fired previously. Original glass. I have a NOS mantle that came installed on it, which is about the size of a baby's sock (i.e., huge), but here I am using a vintage Coleman 1111, which does pretty well. The original mantle had a tear in it (sad), so if I can figure out how to repair that I'll give that one a go. The room this is in was pitch-black before I fired this bad boy up, so let me tell you, it's so bright that I think that with the original mantle going full-blast my eyes would liquefy. Some loss to the white ceramic reflector and preheat ring from crazing and flaking over the years, but only a cosmetic issue. To my surprise, this lamp is a very quiet runner--almost inaudible. It's big, and even half-full of fuel takes a LOT of pumping to get up to 1.0+ bar. But well worth it! I have its original parts diagram and instructions and will scan and upload those. Best Ulf.
Excellent to have such a well preserved example of that lamp. I’m looking forward to seeing the paperwork. Cheers Tony
@Ulf Congratulations on this great find and thank you for showing the lamp with original documents from 1937 .
Thanks gentlemen. I've been looking for a decent example of one of these for quite some time. But now . . . I want to find more! It's a disease! U.
