Hi all, I have had a box with Wiktorin 8000/8000 lamp parts from two scrappy lamps, for a long time. After many years I have now decided to make a try to assemble one good functional lamp out of the lot. Here is the result. This is my third Wiktorin lamp, also the third burner size, if you count the Wiktorin 5000 table lamp as the smallest size. The Wiktorin lamps are nice "gadgy" lamps with lots of charm! /Conny The lamp parts prior to restoration ..... My three Wiktorin lamps......... 1910 Wiktorin patent ..... Here is a lovely family of Victorin lamps. I congratulate you again on your excellent restoration work with period documentation. Regards, Titoo.
Very nice - I do like the square tank version - something very original about it and definitley "of an era".
Very nice restauration! @Conny C : Which burner and ring did you use for the 8800? I also got one, and just have the burner but no mount for a mantle. Maybe you can help me Regards Marc
Hi Marc, @Marc W. Sorry for the late answer. My two Wiktorin 8000 series lamps I used to get one functional lamp, were both missing the ceramic nozzle. I had earlier traded or bought a couple of ceramic nozzles from Wim van der Velden for other inverted lamps I was restoring and one of these had the same threads as the end of the Wiktorin mixing tube, and it was possible to adapt it to the lamp. I used my last rigid preformed mantle in the try. I think the mantle is No.17162 and probably Veritas or Auer. Mine was imported Auer with the "Sievert" logo. If you can find any ceramic nozzle with the right threads you can adapt the mantle size according to the ceramic nozzle. Even a soft small mantle knitted to the right ceramic ring, will probably be succesful. Good luck finding the missing parts! All the best /Conny
A Ditmar 200 or 300 HK nozzle that I had in my spares box fitted my Wiktorin 8800. I even had a Ditmar burner for rigid mantles and a mantle ring available. In lack of a rigid mantle my plan is to use a kerosene lantern to form a soft mantle with the ring and then swap it over to the Wiktorin. However, I need to restore her first which is not easy because the tank is quite corroded from within and needs some tank sealer first. Further, it has a non-serviceable pump, which means that I have to ruin the brown original lacquering to open and service it... I'm still in search for a inner draught cylinder, but fortunately I have the dimensions for it.
Hey Guys, thank you for your replies. I see, it is quite challenging. Maybe I try to built my own Ring at first out of brass or stainless steel. Meanwhile I will search for a proper clay ring.
Hey, I was now able to find a suitable ring from Auer. I just needed to put a smaller mantle on it. I now have the question, what do you use for a filler material @Conny C ? Cotton? Brass gauze? The lamp is running now with a cotton filling, but the flame is yellowish instead of blue and it is sometimes pulsating.
