Hi, i have an hipolito h502 automatic lamp that is missing ceramic burner, where to get spare part? I also have an petromax cp500 and i tried to fit the ceramic burner from it and it is way too small for the hipolito. Another question is the number on the bottom of the hipolito that says 2068, i dont know how to determine its age from that. Best regards Parvis
Hello and welcome, Any 500cp petromax style/type lantern would have the same size burner. Otherwise it would not be a 500cp lantern. What can be different is the thread. If your lantern follows the same four digit rules 2068 would be: 20th week, 1966 and 8 day. But there are no 8 days in a week, so this code doesn't apply to your lantern. pictures say more then numbers and text so show your lanterns please.
Thank you for your answer, i hope these pictures help. I tried to fit that petromax mixing chamber to the hipolito and dosent fit. Should i get a new j tube from petromax and try to use that?
The mixing chamber and clay burner from current production are no longer compatible with ther parts from past decades . You have to buy the two parts as a unit, or otherwise they won't fit. I'm not entirely sure about the J-tube. For me , 2068 means that this batch, which belonged to this Hipolito , begann in the 20th week of 1986. The code of the sixties, which is valid from 1961 to 1972 ,cannot be used with the four-digit numbers minted from 1974 onwards. From this time onwards there was a different code which only indicated the starting week of the batch and the year, that was my theory. In the nineties ,there was again a new code.
Thanks, what do you mean to buy as a unit, i haver seen those parts being sold together atleast not at the petromax store?
A unit is always a collection of things that belong together.Regarding Petromax or Hipolito, the parts should come from the same production period.
Thank you for the help, i will try to find original part. If i cant find it, i will try the new j tube from petromax.
Hi @Parvis and Welcome! it is always worthwhile contacting/speaking to lantern parts suppliers like Stuga-Cabana as they may be able to help? They have always been very helpful whenever I have contacted them Also the base-camp here in the Uk are very knowledgeable and helpful regards, pb
