I was very lucky to pick up this Turner 511 on Marketplace last year and have been too busy to get it on the workbench since.

A great lantern to work on and an interesting fuel system with the eccentric block and cleaning wire built into the main fuel valve.

I love the pump knob and the vent shape on these.

It did light up with the built in preheat method but took a few attempts and more than the 40 strokes of pressure recommended on the instructions. Cleared its throat though and burned well with 2x Peerless 2C-HG on it.

    Great work!

Has the hole on the globe (chimney) been drilled then heated? A close up photo would be good. And, Is it (the glass) branded?

    Best regards

    Tony

@Tony Press - The hole in the glass is original manufacture as best I can tell. I think these did come with a Macbeth originally from what I’ve read.

What paint color did you use for the fount? I've got one that I'm getting ready to do, and can't figure out if it's black or a very dark blue color

Thanks. I thought maybe it was not a straight black color, but had some blue in it.

It looked fairly black to me but I am colour blind. You perhaps shouldn’t rely on my judgement!
