hi apologies if this isn't allowed in this part of the forum if its not allowed please delete. anyway i'm just wondering if anyone has any FL6 Wingnuts for sale? thank you
Tough task. Perhaps get threaded rod matching the Tilley part and have large BSW wing nuts welded onto the rod ends; or get fully remade wingnuts.
@Paraffin Paddy I have measured the threads on two of mine and get 3/8" x 20 TPI which is a British Standard Fine thread.
Agree with @ROBBO55 on the thread spec which is why I said ‘get threaded rod matching the Tilley part’ and then weld on a large wing nut that is still available such as 3/8" BSW. The thread needs to be that finer spec to get it tightened more easily. I also said ‘tough task’ because it’s not easy and BSF parts are much harder to get hold of. Another option is to drill out the thread in the yoke and use a bolt and nut. A wing nut might do in a pinch but you probably can’t tighten it by hand enough to stabilise the floodlight from rotation. The Tilley wing bolts are quite large and make it easier to tighten. I would suggest @Paraffin Paddy you hold out and keep looking for two proper wing bolts. Often these missing pieces turn up in the most unexpected ways.
There seem to be a few options available on ebay uk ranging from £3.50 and upwards for 2 off x 1 + a half 3/8” bsf which might be good for an idea of where to start.. longer threads and different sizes there as well.. regards pb
thanks for the info, podbros.but i think i`m going to hold on until i can get hold of an original pair
i managed to get myself some wing nuts for the fl6 they were free but the lamp they came with wasn't. £167 later...
Unfortunately there's no known cure either. I thought I was in remission after 10 years or so but it seems I'm having a serious relapse now after rescuing a pretty little X246 Guardsman from a charity shop recently. LA (Lampaholics Anonymous) helped but you just take one little sip and you're back to square one if you're not careful...
