    I need some parts. The Nut that holds the top of the lantern on was seized solid so what thread is it so I can make another?
    Also what do people used for washers it looks like a plastic material on mine?

    My one is at the lock up but it may be an imperial thread as it’s a Coleman?

    For the pump you can get another kit either online or from base camp or get a leather washer from the Fettlebox here on CPL and carefully take off the star-lock washer and re-use?

    I think base camp might have the knurled nuts but best to ring

    im at the lock up tomo so could check threads .. another member might chip in b4 then

    Thanks
    I believe it's a UNC thread so I should be able to get one tomorrow as I am going to a small auto jumble / Car. Bike and lorry show. I was hoping I could just make a leather washer?
    I don't like buying things if I can make one

    Thanks No one selling Nuts and bolts at the Autojumble, so we will have to make one or have a root through all the boxes of random imperial stuff.

    I hope you get it all fixed up and running.

    one observation…that I burnt mantle looks way too big for that lantern.

    you should use a Colman No 21a or equivalent.

    I bought one of these brand new and have had nothing but problems with it, apart from having to wait for the valve assembly to fill up with fuel every time I go to start it when running there was a clattering noise and now and again it would pop while simultaneously going dim for a millisecond, I fitted a new whole valve assembly and now it runs really dim like it is not allowing enough fuel through :rage:, but I have a second hand northstar which works flawlessly, Now I am totally obsessed with my Petromaxes , I have a new ( clone ) and a German made one and Christ what pieces of engineering, my other lamps don’t get a look in anymore :)

    Hi Thomas 1.

    I had a similar issue with my Coleman and needed to replace the generator (Vapouriser). Before you get to that stage and since it has been happening from new, have you tried cleaning the pickup tube? There could be some debris in there from manufacture.

    @winchman

    The nut on that lamp looks like nylock or maybe a simmonds nut, not the lovely knurled one that should be there. Can't really see the top very well in the picture. I think that basecamp or possibly Julian Shaw has some.

    I bought some similar Coleman looky likey mantles from E bay and they were far too large. Try to get some genuine Coleman #21s as they are the real thing.

    Yes @andrewdwork the new valve assembly came complete with a new pick up tube, the lamp is useable but not as bright as it should be , it seems to fluctuate between uses, sometimes it isn’t that bad then other times it is, like I said previously I’m just obsessed by Petromaxes now , I know they are a high maintenance lamp but once you have got them dialled in they are just fantastic, I would like a really early one but I have a lot more researching to do before I have the knowledge to do so
