Hello, I got my dream lamp Graetzin 915. I would like to use it occasionally to light the inside of my small lamp museum. I disassembled the lamp, cleaned the nozzle and filter. The lamp can be lit, it shines beautifully but only as long as the alcohol in the preheating bowl is burning. Then the light output starts to slowly fluctuate, the mantle starts to flash and finally the light output stabilizes but it shines really little. Does anyone know where the problem could be? It seems to me that the alcohol is not having time to gasify (low temperature??). Thank you for the advice, or add photos of your Graetzins - I really love this type of lamp.
Hi Dan That is a great find I know little about your lamp but the white enamel part with the 3 cut outs seems to me to suggest that there might be a smaller glass globe that sits inside the larger one?? that would help to keep the heat where it is needed? Regards pb edit : i found this with a search Thanks to Wimve
Sorry Dan, yes I can see it now on the first photo.. my apologies maybe another member can help? @Anthony
I'm thinking blocked fuel supply. It is working fine at first because it has time for the fuel to pass the blockage but then the fuel can't get in quick enough. Only a guess but easy enough to check.
Great Graetzin 915 lamp Dan! Did you check the brass mesh gauze filling in the generator? It also seems there were two types of burners for the 915 burner parts ........ /Conny
You may have a fuel line problem, blocked but I also found out that the valve has a typical "switch" build in. It is not on off, but also a selection switch to fill the pre heater cup. If that is not working or sealing well you may also encounter fuel problems. Please use alcohol with as less water in it as possible. Over here we have stuff which is called "spiritus" but besides the blue dye it contains 15% water.
