    This was the 1A that had gold underlying paint when I stripped off the drab olive paint. I have fettled the whole thing but still have to obtain a pricker wire. The fibre wheel is the thinner type and the bail has a hook. I'm thinking it may be the second version but am not certain. I resprayed it with primer, then Dulux semi-gloss Metal Shield 'Wilderness' colour.

    The underlying gold colour after I stripped off the drab olive top paint layer.

    @Sedgman

    See my post here, of two Aladdin 1A tanks with gold paint.

    Cheers

    Thanks, I hadn’t seen that and the two tanks you showed with the gold underneath have the same green on top as my one did. Most interesting.

    One of the greens is a bit darker (side by side), but that might be the result of age or batch.

    That looks to be a good match (and well sprayed). What is the handle sprayed with?

    Thanks Nils, I used Australian Export interior/exterior enamel paint. They do make Chrome colour but I find the Silver colour gives better coverage. The brand is found at many small hardware and cheap stores.

    Aladdin 1A's were always a good work horse lantern.
