Hello friends! About 5 years ago I bought a lamp at a flea market in Madrid, Spain, that said Lilor Paris. I looked for it that way and couldn't find it until I searched in French and discovered it was the 4500 model. This model didn't have a pressure gauge, but mine did, and the pressure was regulated with an external pump. I loosened a screw a few days ago and released the air pressure. I wanted to know if it was kerosene or gasoline, and if there was a video on any website that could help me get it working. I'll post some photos. It has the lens, but the glass is a little damaged. I was surprised at 45 euros, a lot of what the lamp costs, and how to disassemble it. The OPEN/CLOSE KEYS ARE STUCK. I WILL UPLOAD PHOTOS. PLEASE HELP ME. I'M NEW TO THE FORUM. KINDLY RESPECTFUL
@santiago blanco perez , welcome to the forum. Nice lantern you bought for a nice price. Be careful withe valve since it can be rusted in situ. It is a gasoline burning lantern. Under the white enamel reflector there is a asbestos disc, don't damage it ! LIOTARD - LILOR
Hello friends, Thank you for welcoming the forum. Thank you all. By the way, I thought the top of the lamp was painted black. I put paint remover on it and went to remove it, but it wouldn't come out. Yesterday I bought sandpaper, but it comes off, but it's very difficult. It never came out. And smoke is already coming out, but there is still a long way to go. Do you know of an easier way to clean it? I have to start with coarse sandpaper, and when you see the brass, use very fine sandpaper. And if you get desperate when cleaning the pieces, do it with citric acid. Before I forget, can the mica be restored or do I need to replace it? But I'm afraid to take it apart because the keys are stuck. However, I had to press to loosen a screw, and someone on the forum told me to be careful. There is an asbestos disc underneath the white disc. I'd like to know if there's any video that shows how to take it apart. I will upload a photo of the mica screen as it is and if it can be restored. Greetings and sorry for the number of questions.
Mica globe cage: Looks good, don't damage it (further). So keep it in one piece. If you dare: clean the metal carefully with sandpaper. NEVER use sandpaper on brass parts it will make scrathes !
hello friens, how do you see the mica? i see it damaged but i dont`t know if it can be restored or better left as is.
There are chemicals that are used by soaking, this cleanses rust and metal is passed (it no longer rusts)
Let's see if someone can tell me if it's smoke or paint. I'm going to try with the Dremel. I've tried everything: paint remover, vinegar, salt and flour. No luck. I do it with metal sandpaper, but it's hard and leaves spots. I'll post some photos. I'll try to find out in French how it translates from Spanish to English. Let's see in French.
seems to be oxidation, try caustic soda in alternance with citric acid but when it is oxidized so much as it is difficult to obtain it perfect
Hi @santiago blanco perez and Welcome! did you look at Michel’s marvellous website? There is a great picture there of the lamp’s control taps ? and also some words in French ? pb
