Hello fettlers, i am fettling and restoring my 1996 Coleman 424 stove. This threaded bushing (I think that's the name in English) is stuck. I can't get grip, I tried heating the element, I tried WD40... Any new ideas? The biggest problem I have while fettling is things being stuck. Also on my Coleman 226, see other picture. I need to loosen it because of the new generator I want to place in the 424 and to remove a fuel blockage in the Coleman 226.
Hi @SulphurTX CPL has a sister site dedicated to classic stoves.. have you asked or looked for help there yet? go to the homepage here and scroll down cheers pb
Thanks! I have the same problem with 'things are stuck' with the Coleman 226 pressure lamp unfortunately...
If you are trying to remove the entire valve from the painted tank you may need to carefully heat the brass valve until you see the thread sealer bubble slightly. The locking sealer they used can need a LOT of heat to soften sometimes.
Too much heat will melt the solder around the threaded insert, o be careful. Gently hold the valve in a vice but not too tight and use something around the valve to protect it. Rotate the tank to unscrew the valve.
