Hi all, I picked this hand lamp up yesterday, I know of the Vapalux 300 hand lamps with painted tank and sometimes presented in the fitted box a la Tilley Lamp Hospital SL61 and wanted to know if this is a 300x version or just been put together by someone? It looks proper but I wasn't aware of a 300x type. I'd appreciate any comments please as to present vs original condition, correct or incorrect hood etc etc please. Damn near fell over when I saw it sitting there for sale!
    TIA, Nicky IMG-20250608-WA0000.jpeg

Couldn't resist it. Just a lot better looking as a 300

A very lucky find and the first build looked good too.

Would look better if it went back to its original grey colour...

I'm not a refinisher with any of my lamps, pressure or wickies. I will strip paint if it's modern or ugly though. Similarly I can't get my head around polishing the history out of Primus stoves and similar.

Having had a couple through my hands, that looks right. The ringers (sadly, there are a few about) are quite easy to distinguish.

    Well found...

Exactly! - I absolutely, totally, 100% agree with you... :D/
