Some folk will know of my affinity/ancestry with the Northern Isles of Scotland: Stroma in the Pentland Firth; South Ronaldsay and Hoy on Orkney; I'm over on Orkney half a dozen times a year, some of my favourite places to be in the world. Well last year I finally scratched the itch to go to Shetland... It was part of a group heading up to the vintage vehicle rally so my usual wandering around activities were heavily curtailed, but I did manage to go to Vidlin on a free day to pay my respects to a good friend buried there and go up as far as possible to Lunna Ness/Lunna House and Kirk etc. Will definitely be back up again. I missed The Cabin Museum which has several items of interest, and didn't have time to meet Jeff, but that will be rectified next time! We were incredibly lucky with the weather, but I'm conditioned for northern weather in leaky vehicles so it doesnt bother me anyway Alec.
