    Very good question!

I’ve not ever noticed a size difference. :-k.

I’d better check, but I think all of mine (and the Kayens) are pretty much the same.

    @Tony Press

My son found another one for me covered in rust all over, now I have 4 in total.

The 3 shown here all have different rim folds and rivets holding on the stays, odd. IMG20250720170802.jpg IMG20250720170810.jpg IMG20250720170831.jpg

@Anthony and I discussed the differences a few years ago trying to see whether we could identify Tilley vs Kayen.

I think Tilley reflectors are reasonably consistent in the way they were produced, but Kayen are quite variable. Some Kayen are probably made the same way as Tilley (the way the stays are fixed, and the rim folded) but other Kayen reflectors vary, including having a cut rim with no fold.

    What do you reckon @Anthony?

In the picture below the four in the middle are decaled Tilleys and are all the same with a round fold on the rim.
In the stack on the left, all are riveted but some rivets are flattened to level with the ears.
Varying degrees of folds on the rims.
The two on the right are welded so no rivets.

The cut rim with no fold reflector that Tony mentioned are riveted and are very thick and heavy.

I mentioned to @Marko57 that I wasn't totally convinced that we were able to tell Tilleys from Kayens and that the flat rim rule didn't always work.
Marko said he goes on rivets for Tilley and no rivets for for Kayen which could be right but with my sample I would have expected more not riveted reflectors as we find about as many Kayens as EX lamps in Australia.

The UK guys don't see these eared reflectors much as the EX4 and EX100 were export lamps.
Having said that I know there were some sold in the UK and it would help us in Australia to solve our local mystery if we could see what you have over there.

@Marko57 , the one on the top of the stack is the only one that is a differned size to the rest and is a fair bit smaller.

    Hello Anthony

That's a nice stack of shades, I just checked all of mine.

9 - Standard size riveted shades. 4 - Smaller Riveted shades and ONLY one welded shade.

I did score a EX100 years ago in a square cardboard Tilley packing box which came with a Tilley shade inside also,

It even had most of the straw packing also, plus left over spare parts. It was ordered and sent to an island of the coast of Tasmania.

I will find the box or old pics and post them here.

Kayen must of been selling a lot of Tilley shades on their lanterns.

    Cheers Mark.

Hi fellas, I’ve been following the hood , I have one smaller but I think it has been hand made.
All brass but it came with a Tilley Ex4v2 that seems to have an anodised finish IMG_1355.jpeg IMG_1356.jpeg IMG_1357.jpeg IMG_1361.jpeg I did check out some of my other shades, there is some differences.

Hello Darryl, the one with no surports looks like a KL80 shade as it has the wider slots in it.
